Can you go inside Buckingham Palace?

Yes, but only at certain times of year. The State Rooms are open to visitors during the summer months and on select dates, and tickets must be booked in advance through the Royal Collection Trust.

You do not need tickets to view the palace from outside, including the gates and Victoria Memorial. Tickets are only required if you plan to go inside, which can be booked in advance through the Royal Collection Trust. 

The Changing of the Guard usually takes place in the late morning, typically around 11:00 AM on scheduled days. It does not happen every day, so it’s best to check the official schedule on the Household Division website.

The gates of Buckingham Palace offer the closest view but get very crowded. For more space, consider watching from The Mall or near the Victoria Memorial. 

Most visitors spend 20 to 30 minutes around the palace and Victoria Memorial, or longer if watching the Changing of the Guard.
